... what you should know about John Smith, is that he is the real deal. A singer/songwriter who has found his voice and his place and will take you there through his music. I think it speaks for itself, directly from his heart to yours. I promise you will be moved."
Randy Brown, Mineola TX

" Not only does he spell his name as one word, he doesn't always capitalize it. Actually he could call himself wordsmith or songsmith just as easily, because he certainly can smith a song."

Joe Henry of Acoustic Sounds cafe, Little Rock, AR.

"When I first heard John Smith my attention was captured by his sweet, earthy voice and fine craftsmanship, but what drew me in was his heart. It's clear that he's lived the pain in his songs and that his optimism is hope born of wisdom. That's a rare thing and a gift to all who hear him."

Tom Kimmel

"Since winning the New Folk competition, John’s songwriting and performing skills have become finely honed.. Audiences find his originality and genuineness totally engaging and refreshing."

Rod Kennedy of the Kerrville Folk Festival

"I feel like every time one of your songs gets heard a little healing happens to the world. And we need all of that we can get, that's for sure."

The Waymores: Alt-Nashville Writers-in-the-Round

The stories behind the songs. The heart behind the music. Way cool Nashville in an intimate setting.

Grammy Award winner Don Henry's songs have been recorded by Ray Charles, Patti Page, Conway Twitty, Kathy Mattea and dozens of other great artists... but they shine brightest when sung by the artist who wrote them. Long appreciated as one of Nashville's finest singer-songwriters, Don is revered by fans, critics and peers alike for being one of the most inspiring, entertaining and funny(!) artists you are ever likely to see and hear.

Whether in her own hands or those of hit artists like Martina McBride or Lee Ann Womack, Sally Barris’s music makes an indelible impression. And while her writing credits mightily impress—her songs have been covered by Trisha Yearwood & Keith Urban, John Michael Montgomery, Kathy Mattea and many others—fans and peers are most captivated by her bright spirit and high mountain soprano.

Tom Kimmel's business card facetiously reads Overnight Success, but the truth is far from it. After graduating college he worked as a short order cook, bus boy, taxi driver, chef, shipping clerk, lab technician, janitor, waiter, bartender and window washer on his way to establishing himself as an award winning songwriter (Johnny Cash, Linda Ronstadt, Joe Cocker, Randy Travis and a host of others) and critically acclaimed performing artist (seven albums).

Jon Pousette-Dart captained the Pousette-Dart Band through four albums for Capitol Records between 1976 and 1980, a run that acquainted a generation with his formidable gifts as a singer, songwriter, arranger, guitarist and all-around musical adventurer. During this time, the Pousette-Dart Band became one of the busiest touring groups in the U. S., working with such acts as the Byrds, Bonnie Raitt, Little Feat, James Taylor, Yes, the J. Geils Band, Eddie Money, Peter Frampton, Journey and Billy Joel.

"When things got scary - as the seventies petered out and the eighties skulked in," Pousette-Dart muses, "while folks were trying to figure out how they ever got stuck in the position of having to choose between Donna Summer and Johnny Rotten, the original Pousette-Dart Band did what any halfway moral, responsible band would do - we took a break." Pousette-Dart, himself, however, kept on trucking.

This year - 2009 - Pousette-Dart will continue his solo and band performances around the country with dates in Europe as well.. In addition to performing, he continues working hard on the Estate of Richard Pousette-Dart which promotes the works of his late father, the eminent abstract expressionist Richard Pousette-Dart. Jon has worked with his family developing shows for the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Whitney Museum of Art, The Indianapolis Museum of Fine Art, the Knoedler Gallery in New York and the Museums of Fine Arts in Houston and Boca Raton, Florida, as well as ACA Munich, Germany, the Schirne Kunsthalle in Frankfurt, Germany, and future shows in Europe . Shows include exhibitions at Los Angeles County Museum of Fine Art, the San Francisco Museum of Fine Art, and the Cleveland Museum of Fine Art all in 2005-2007. A major show was also mounted at The Guggenheim in Venice Italy which traveled to The Guggenheim in NYC . A major publication on Random House/ Rizzoli was also released in 2007, titled, "Richard Pousette-Dart, The New York School and Beyond." New shows of his paintings, works on paper, and photographs, are currently in the works.

Natalia Zukerman’s Weasel Records debut Brand New Frame introduces listeners to her rich layers of top notch guitar playing, contemporary beats and dark, sweet, provocative vocals. Musically sophisticated, intimate and irreverent all at once, this record highlights what’s best about Americana music and offers it a Brand New Frame.

Produced by Willy Porter (www.willyporter.com), Brand New Frame features Zukerman on vocals and guitars, with Dave Schoepke on drums, Leroy Deuster on Pedal Steel, Bryan Mir on electric bass, Todd Sickafoose (Ani Difranco) and Marty Ballou (John Hammond) on upright bass. The album is also sprinkled with notable guest appearances by fellow songwriters Willy Porter, Melissa Ferrick and Edie Carey.

Since 2004, Zukerman has been touring the country opening shows for roots greats and guitar slingers including Kelly Joe Phelps, Richard Shindell, Lucy Kaplansky, Garnet Rogers, Melissa Ferrick, Catie Curtis, Susan Werner and many others. It was on the road that Zukerman formed the relationship with Willy Porter that would lead to producing Brand New Frame and releasing the album on his label Weasel Records.

“Brand New Frame is a perfect fit with what I’ve always wanted Weasel to represent. The small but mighty team here is thrilled to share Natalia’s record, and tremendous talent, with the world.”
